Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger, and Synchronicity II The album sold over 8 million copies in the USA (8 x platinum), 300,000 in the UK (1 x platinum). Total worldwide sales by the end of 1983 were over 20 million. Synchronicity spent 17 weeks at number 1 in the USA and Every Breath You Take was number one single for 8 weeks. Synchronicity spent 2 weeks at number 1 and Every Breath You Take spent 4 weeks at number 1 in the UK. The albums title and much of the material for the songs were inspired by Arthur Koestlers The Roots of Coincidence. At the 1984 Grammy Awards the album was nominated for a total of five awards including Album of the Year.The Polices finest album - ROLLING STONE MAGAZINESynchronicity hit No.1 around the world, selling over 15 million globally (8.5 million sales of which were from the US alone). The No.1 hit single Every Breath You Take would go on to be the most played song in radio history, with more than 15 million plays. The critical reception for Synchronicity was no less impressive: the album received five Grammy Award nominations in 1984 and won three (Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, Song of the Year (Every Breath You Take) and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal). The album also received press acclaim and has since appeared in many lists, including #159 in Rolling Stone Magazines Greatest 500 Albums of All Time.This reissue has been three years in the making, created with the bands involvement and endorsement.
